RENENS, Switzerland – Salt Home offers the best internet performance in Switzerland. This is the result of the annual
nPerf barometer of fixed internet connections in Switzerland. Salt Home significantly outperformed
the competition on all criteria, download and upload speed as well as latency. The performance of
Salt Home is unbeaten since its launch in March 2018.
nPerf, a global provider of internet performance tests, published its annual barometer of fixed
internet connections for Switzerland, based on over 110’000 connection tests, performed by its
users throughout 2020. The result was very clear: Salt’s product remains the fastest. For the third
time in a row, Salt Home outperformed its competition by far. Salt’s FTTH solution based on XGSPON technology achieved record results in terms of download, upload and latency score.
Excellent download and upload speeds and very low latency
While the average download speed in Switzerland (all technologies combined) increased from 98Mb/s in 2019 to 157Mb/s in 2020, Salt's average download speed was more than twice as high (418 Mb/s). With 345 Mb/s, Salt's average upload speed was even three times higher than the overall average. With 10ms, Salt Home customers also experienced a significantly lower latency score than the industry average of 18ms.
The increased importance of working from home has increased the number of critical applications accessed over home internet connections both for leisure and professional purposes. A strongly performing internet connection, and low latency in particular, is essential in times of accelerated digitalisation; today's consumers expect that all content viewed in a web browser or via an app appears as directly as possible and without delay.
Pascal Grieder, CEO at Salt commented the results "The pandemic has massively increased the importance of working from home. Having a stable, reliable internet connection and high download and upload speeds have become essential for everybody. The nPerf test results are particularly rewarding, as throughout the year our network was used intensively and has proven to be extremely reliable. This result confirms again we provide our customers the fastest product on the market and that our FTTH based solution stands out in terms of quality and price."
