Wonderful information. Thank you, Ronan!

Gigamaster

absolutely agree. The consumer has become the product.

Final pillar - * Trust opex - Unfortunately, have seen malware rise, even in less expensive handsets; even if careful about installing security software, if the handset -- perhaps discounted or very low-cost IoT sensor -- is infected, then customer is in trouble.

Are we on the cusp of a sort of technological revolution, say when the Internet changed the way we do absolutely everything? Perhaps with the relationship between service provider, operators, vendors?

Gigamaster

* Importance of culture - of the operator and of each vendor/partner - 5x or 7x9s - must be very careful about cultural alignment of each provider of each component
* Traceability - what is wrong, why it is wrong and how to fix it

Fascinating ideas!
Narrowbander

Interesting example about the giraffe. Unfortunately, I am not vertically challenged.

Gigamaster

Not "vertically challenged" aka tall as a child - so Ronan leveraged his height into a reasonably successful 'career' as a high jumper. Used this as an example of thinking out of the box.

Narrowbander

Yes, it should load automatically.

Author

Hello from Long Island, New York. Will this radio show load automatically?

Gigamaster

Don't forget to get your questions ready for Ronan!

Author

Hello, from Long Island! Hopefully I can get to hear this show. I think it's supposed to load automatically?

Gigamaster
The audio player will load automatically when the radio show audio begins. Some corporate networks block the sort of streaming audio content used by this player. If the player loads but you are not able to hear the live audio, you may still be able to hear the archived audio after the live program finishes by returning to this page.

Consumers are buying millions of IoT devices, from smart thermostats and security systems to intelligent entertainment setups and furniture. Yet many of these devices remain isolated because home users are uncomfortable connecting them to each other or even their WiFi. After all, their WiFi network was probably designed only to handle a few laptops, a gaming system and a couple of smartphones. Now, demand on the network is surging and even though you're delivering 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, that doesn't necessarily mean the broadband power is in the right place or reaches every corner of a home.

Even if WiFi coverage is sufficient, typing is not on trend. Voice is far more natural, easier and faster. Using a TV keyboard is archaic when more and more households have access to cloud-based voice services, like Amazon Alexa. This webinar will explore how service providers can create a comfortable, truly smart home for consumers simultaneously driving up margin and loyalty.
