@John: Except that assumes that all code gets equal attention.

Open source has become renowned for attracting devs who are more feature-focused and security-focused. That's how major security bugs like Heartbleed were able to be inserted into open-source code (albeit inadvertently) and stick around for years upon years.

@afwriter True. Security has historically been an issue with "open source," the way companies resisted going to the cloud for that reason. Many companies are just not ready to make that leap.
