Re: billions
@batye I hope so, too. Many innovations seem to not have that much positive impact, but the potential for good is always there.

Whenever someone steps up to commit to the future, it is always gratifying to be witness to it-it signifies a belief in the future--although I am tempered by the Federal Reserve determinations on the US Economy slowing down though.....

Indeed--It will be fascinating to see who will be left standing when the dust settles though.   I continue to wonder as I am witness to changes--and was blown away by a real-time example of the Apple Watch just today!!!

billions
We've gotten so used to hearing about multi-billion dollar projects that this didn't first register as signficiant. But I suppose, given the context, that would be a jump of a 1/3 over anything before, which is quite a leap forward in investment. <Dell'Oro's $2 billion projection is significant in that the total CCAP (converged cable access platform) market has never exceeded $1.5 billion.>

Consumers are buying millions of IoT devices, from smart thermostats and security systems to intelligent entertainment setups and furniture. Yet many of these devices remain isolated because home users are uncomfortable connecting them to each other or even their WiFi. After all, their WiFi network was probably designed only to handle a few laptops, a gaming system and a couple of smartphones. Now, demand on the network is surging and even though you're delivering 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps, that doesn't necessarily mean the broadband power is in the right place or reaches every corner of a home.

Even if WiFi coverage is sufficient, typing is not on trend. Voice is far more natural, easier and faster. Using a TV keyboard is archaic when more and more households have access to cloud-based voice services, like Amazon Alexa. This webinar will explore how service providers can create a comfortable, truly smart home for consumers simultaneously driving up margin and loyalty.
