Re: Security
Pretty amazing to learn that "last year 40% of all patent applications filed by BT were in the security area," which makes me wonder too about a news report today that space vehicles might well be the next protected "devices" to be considered risks not only for communication breakdowns but for national security as well.

Re: Avacados and AI
It's funny how everytime we get lulled into an idea that AI is going to be ok we get jarred back to reality with ideas like this.

Re: Avacados and AI
@JohnDrake. Good points. I totally agree. AI should have evolved but more companies focus on profit and greed. This is a capitalist society and until companies go back and focus on their mission and became customer-centric versus profit-centric.

Cybersecurity
It is surprising that they are just realizing that they need to change their approach to security. They should have realized this decades ago. Multiple layers of defense were needed decades ago. Security measures will need to evolved and continue to evolve as more technology advances are implemented.

Security
Security issues have been in existence since the internet, hardware, software and technology was invented. Companies are focused on profit and are not concerned wth protecting their data or their customers until a data breach or hack occurs.

Avacados and AI
"think of yourself as an avocado, rather than a coconut with a hard shell."

The avocados where I live have been pretty inedible lately, infected by all kinds of unsightly avocado diseases. I hate to think of my data communications being anything like an avocado. Probably the laptops in the local library are like that--they are all infected so badly that no one uses them.

But the connection with AI in spreaheading nefarious activities online is one I wasn't aware of. Apparently this was studied all the way back in 1995. By now, after all this time, the AI should have evolved and advanced enough to be launching its own constellations of micro-satellites around the earth.

Today’s access network architecture is under mounting pressure due to a continued surge in the number of connected devices, a proliferation of bandwidth-intensive customer applications and dramatic shifts in usage patterns related to the pandemic, such as work-from-home and e-learning.

Learn why now is the right time for cable operators to build greenfield networks or expand their existing networks with 10G PON, arming customers with high-speed symmetrical broadband. Gain a clear understanding of the drivers impacting the access network and the various approaches being considered to deliver higher speed services. Plus, find out the best practices that operators are employing as they leverage the latest in passive optical technology to future-proof their networks.

Topics to be covered include:

  • Node + 0 (Fiber Deep)
  • DOCSIS 3.1, DOCSIS 4.0 (FDX/ESD)
  • FTTP and 10G PON
  • XGS-PON, NG-PON2
  • Provisioning 10G PON within a DOCSIS B/OSS environment
