Re: Exageration
3D printing in metals isn't a consumer device yet because of the costs and dangers (melting metals by lasers isn't something you typically do in your basement or garage). But some companies are doing it.

Re: Exageration
@mhhf1ve metal printing in 3D I have not seen in Canada yet, due to the prices and also we are few years behind USA... but you are right metal printing in 3D cost a lot...

Re: Exageration
Imagine the costs for 3D printing metals! Plastic 3D printing should get cheaper someday, depending on the plastics. But metallic sintering or whatever is needed for 3D printing metals... isn't going to be cheap for a looong time.

Re: Exageration
@mhhf1ve most people I know with 3D printer, wait for Amazon price errors/clerance on unwanted/unsold colors, or durng stores closer/clearout sales to buy plastic wire... other way is just too much - to use 3D printing...

Re: Exageration
Heh. If you think the cost of Inkjet printer ink is expensive... the filament costs for 3D printing may be a big barrier for mass market adoption..

Reliability
> "Today a large portion of consumers have the speed they want -- they can stream all the video they want. They want reliability,"
Are customers (young or old) willing to pay more for reliability? I think a bit more for wireless ISPs with better coverage, but fixed broadband may not be able to get extra revenue from better reliability..?

Re: Exageration
If only AI could figure out a way to ship physical goods faster for cheap... maybe when robots can build everything on demand..

Re: Exageration
@mhhf1ve I do not know but i do miss days where I could get my item in less than 10 days delivered from ebay - shipment from HK/China... now it 45 days or more...

Re: Exageration
Those 45day shipments are usually pretty cheap... since they're sailing across the pacific from China... someday on a fully autonomous ship!

Here's where you can find episode links for 'The Divide,' Light Reading's podcast series featuring conversations with broadband providers and policymakers working to close the digital divide.
As we have for the past two years, Light Reading will present our Cable Next-Gen Europe conference as a free digital symposium on June 21.
Charter has sparked RDOF work in all 24 states where it won bids. The cable op booked about $19 million in RDOF revenues in Q1, and expects to have about $9 million per month come in over the next ten years.
As we have for the past two years, Light Reading will stage the Cable Next-Gen Technologies & Strategies conference as a free digital event over two half-days in mid-March.
Launch of 2-Gig and 5-Gig FTTP tiers in 70-plus markets puts more pressure on cable ops to enhance their existing DOCSIS 3.1 network or accelerate their upgrade activity centered on the new DOCSIS 4.0 specs.
